Abstract
The authors analysed a clinical data collected from consultation to other departments for evaluation of major medical illness of 203 psychiatric in-patients (Jan. ¢¥81Dec. ¢¥81) at the neuropsychiatric ward of the Korea General Hospital and found the following;
1. The total number of consulted patients surveyed comprised 45.8% of the total inpatients of the ward. 8 patients was answered as physically free, so morbidity of major medical illness disclosed 41.9%.
2. Some differences were noticed between consulted group and non-consulted group. Age distribution and ratio of married state of consulted group were higher than non-consulted group. Admission duration of consulted group out-numbered nearly twice than non-consulted group (mean admission duration, 16.8 days; 34.7 days).
3. Most consulted patients received medical services from department of internal medicine, ENT, ophthalmology, dermatology and gynecology.
4. Follow-up services from department of orthopedic surgery, ENT & dentistry were more frequent.
5. Some patients consulted to department of gynecology and urology were reported as physically free. (38.6%, 33.3%).
Considering the results we feel that more comprehensive studies and sincere considerations on the subject are necessary.
